With the tush push in flux before Wednesday’s vote, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley rushing touchdown player props were all over the place at legal sportsbooks.

Should the play be banned, Hurts’ number would drop, and Barkley’s would increase.

But the play wasn’t banned, it survived, which means Jalen Hurts is expected to find the end zone over and over again in 2025.

At ESPN Bet, a rollercoaster news day went like this:

  • Prior to the vote on the Tush Push, Jalen Hurts’ rushing TD line had moved from an opening line of o/u 12.5 (opened April 15) to as low as 9.5, while Saquon Barkley’s opening line of 10.5 was up to 11.5 this week
  • Following the news that the vote to ban the tush push failed, both players are back to o/u 10.5 rushing TDs
  • To date, 63.3% of bets and 90.1% of handle have been on Hurts to go under his rushing TDs total.
  • 95% of bets and 99.9% of handle on Barkley’s rushing TDs total have been on the over
  • Hurts & Barkley are the two most bet Total Rushing TD props on ESPN BET

For what it’s worth, Hurts rushed for 13, 15 and, 14 touchdowns over the last three seasons, on attempts of 165, 157, and 150. The attempt number dropped slightly with Saquon’s addition, though the short-yardage deployment did not. One of the key stats to consider when looking at Hurts’ rushing TD prop is that no quarterback had more red zone attempts last season, 49 total and tied for 10th with David Montgomery. Saquon did have 55 rushing attempts inside the red zone, but only six touchdowns. You already knew that because you watched the games and saw him get most of the carries up until the goal line. He was also taking carries to the house from well outside the red zone.

Breaking it out a little bit further, 11 of Hurts’ 14 rushing touchdowns this past season took place from the one-yard line, while the other three were scored from the 7, 18 and 8. In 2023, 11 of the 15 were scored from the goal line, so that’s a percentage of 73 and 78 for how much the tush push was responsible for his rushing TDs. It’s good information to have if you’re looking at these props for Pennsylvania sports betting.

There was some thought that banning the play might not have a huge impact, since Hurts is still a strong QB running behind one of football’s best offensive lines. We won’t see that in 2025, maybe 2026 if a second ban attempt is successful, but for now, the tush push is here to stay.
