Eagles Take Care of Steven Nelson

Birds news:
Eagles CB Steven Nelson was made a healthy scratch in Week 18, a move that prevented him from reaching a 90% play-time incentive worth $375K.
The day before the game, Philly gave him a $375K signing bonus to make up for that missed incentive. Very good on the Eagles for that.

It’s always great to see stuff like this. Helps build a good culture and good reputation when you take care of your players with actions like these.
Over at Pro Football Reference, they’ve got Nelson listed at 982 snaps, which amounts to 87.21% of the available snaps through Week 17. If the Cowboys game in Week 18 meant something, he would have started and played the entirety of the defensive snaps, which would have put him over the 90% mark. He actually finished with the most snaps played among any Eagles defensive player, because he stayed healthy and was the #2 corner out there.
$375k might not seem like a ton of money for an NFL player, but Nelson only signed a one-year deal worth three million, so this dollar amount represents a little more than an additional 10%. I also would like a $375k incentive and I’ve emailed Kyle Scott aka “The Maestro” about that.
