Brooks Kubena at The Athletic has a deep dive on A.J. Brown:

It’s a good story and worth reading if you have a sub, but this is four days after Dianna Russini reported (for the same outlet) that the “defending Super Bowl champs are getting phone calls and interest in wide receiver A.J. Brown,” yet have no plans to trade him. She noted that Brown is “clearly losing patience” and quoted an “opposing defensive coach” in support of the thought that there’s been poor communication between Brown and Jalen Hurts.

Good reporting or bad reporting, it doesn’t really matter at this point. It’s A.J. Brown whiplash. It’s overkill. The shark was jumped months ago. We’re beating a horse that died in 2024.

What we know to be true is that A.J. Brown drama has been going on for some time now and has hardly impacted the Eagles’ overall effectiveness. In fact, since A.J. Brown called WIP in February of 2024 to clear the air, he has compiled:

  • 20 regular season games with 96 receptions on 148 targets
  • 1,474 yards and 10 touchdowns
  • 4 playoff games with 12 receptions on 23 targets, amounting to 163 yards and two touchdowns
  • 1 Super Bowl win

He did that while being on and off injured, and it took place during a stretch that included Brandon Graham’s public comments, myriad goofy locker room scrums, too many cryptic tweets to keep track of, and despicable New England media trying to will a trade into existence.

When you consider all of that, the only conclusion you can draw is that none of this matters. He’s played well through the drama and won a ring. And each story and tweet and piece of speculation is diminishing returns on top of diminishing returns, to the point where fans just do not care anymore. Read the comments to any story and they’re sick of this shit, and I don’t blame them.

Therefore, there’s no need to feed the insatiable beast. Our guys have written some fair and balanced stuff on A.J., exploring the drama while not getting stuck in the quagmire, but I think we’re good for now. I think it’s time for the kibosh.

Until further notice, all A.J. Brown stories are BANNED from Crossing Broad. Only positive stuff, like if he goes out and mosses some poor DB, we’ll write about that. But no more of the speculation or tweets or any of that stuff.

IT’S TOO MUCH HORSESHIT
