Fake Pearl-Clutching Over Photos Like This One

People take the ESPN The Magazine “Body Issue” way too seriously.
All we’re doing is celebrating the physique of America’s most decorated athletes. It’s just about recognition, yeah? It’s the appreciation of different body types, of the work these people have put into mastering their craft and reaching the apex of their respective athletic profiles.
Of course some social media weirdos disagree. They are grossed out. They think it’s disturbing or offensive or inappropriate, and it’s really not surprising to see reactions like these popping up all over the place:
Who will think of the children?
And why are men posing naked in a magazine?
So on and so forth.
