First the Eagles Saved the Running Back, Now They Want to Save the Fullback

Jeffrey Lurie was on WIP Monday morning and mentioned he wants to bring the fullback position back from the dead:
How about the Eagles being the lead blocker on not just the running back, but a position that people thought was gone forever? We had Ben VanSumeren switch from LB to FB during the season and play some snaps in the backfield before he was injured. Now with the Tush Push looking like it’ll be all but banned at some point in the future, the Eagles will need to find an alternative. That alternative is building a roster of face-flattening beasts for Saquon Barkley to run behind. The great Leonard Weaver is the last Eagles fullback I can remember that played meaningful snaps for the Birds. Remember that one-handed catch against Atlanta? Remember that knee injury? Still wants to make me puke. Glad to know, thanks to Jeffrey Lurie, that this won’t be the last memory I have of a fullback in an Eagles jersey.
Here’s the funny thing about the Tush Push ban – they’re going to remove the play because every other team sucks at it. They’ve tried to cite health and safety data and it’s been proven over and over again that is a sham. Instead, the Eagles will instead employ a more than 200 pound specimen trying to run through a motherfucker’s face multiple times a game, which will most likely add to more injuries. You can’t make this shit up in Roger Goodell’s NFL.
Long live the fullback:
