From the great SI Vault, one of the best Twitter accounts devoted to sports history, here’s the 1946 Eagles watching game film on a cramped airplane. Sixty-nine years is a long time. We’re now watching game film – if we are professional football players – on iPads in first class on chartered planes. But then, a drop down projection screen would have to do. You could also smoke on that plane, which will always sound insane to me.

The ’46 Eagles won their season opener against the Rams, then beat the Boston Yanks in week two on their way to a 6-5 season, the first .500 or more season for an Eagles head coach.
When he's not writing about sports here or ranting about them on Twitter, Jim is probably watching X-Files on Netflix or drinking a beer somewhere. Jim has nothing against hockey, it's just not his style. He once met Duce Staley at a Sixers game.
