Washington Commie Frankie Luvu was suspended by the NFL:

The hip drop thing has been strange since it was a point of emphasis rule change and yet is rarely called in games. In this case, Luvu has been racking up fines, but the refs aren’t throwing the flag, yet it culminates with a one-game suspension.

Luvu’s absence would be a loss for the Commanders going into this Lions game if it wasn’t already a guaranteed L. They’re 3-6 and have been banged up all year. Jayden Daniels has a dislocated elbow and Marshon Lattimore and Luke McCaffrey suffered a torn ACL and broken collarbone in the Seattle loss, respectively.

Whether or not Luvu is a “dirty” player is up for debate. Eagles fans will tell you the hit that knocked Jalen Hurts out of last year’s road game was dirty, and leading with the helmet. Commies fans will say that Jalen dove headfirst and didn’t protect himself while carrying the ball. Of course, Hurts got the last laugh in the NFC Championship Game, when the Birds throttled the Commanders and Luvu tried to prevent the tush push by jumping over the pile several times.

Coincidentally, if things continue as they’re going this year, both Eagles/Commies games might not matter by the time they’re finally played.
