Here’s a Collection of English Blokes Saying “Go Birds”

This was from the Rams and Jag-wires game at Wembley on Saturday:

Couple of thoughts here.

First, total violation on the guy wearing the DeVonta Smith jersey and Washington Wizards hat. What the hell is that? It’s like that Frankstein outfit Carson Wentz was wearing a few years ago, when he was working out in an Eagles helmet, Commanders jersey, and Colts shorts. Under no circumstances should Philadelphia and Washington sports gear be combined.

Second, the guy at the end has to be the most polite Eagles fan of all time. “Oh yes, yes indeed!” That’s after he remembers he’s even wearing an Eagles jersey to begin with.

It’s pretty funny how these UK blokes show up with all sorts of random jerseys to the NFL London games. It seems to be the case for every foreign NFL game, whether it’s Wembley, or Germany, or Brazil, or wherever they expand to in the coming years. Maybe the NFL Baghdad game is just around the corner and the Kirkuk chapter of the Chicago Bears fan club makes the trip. They just wear the jersey of their favorite team, and while it wouldn’t have been the case 10-15 years ago, the Eagles are a 2x recent Super Bowl winner and much closer to a bandwagon team than some esoteric random choice. Right? Like if you think about it, the Eagles are much closer to being the Yankees and Dodgers for foreigners in 2025. They’re a big team that has been to three Super Bowls in eight years. Picking the Eagles as your NFL team back in the day would have been like picking Southampton as your Premier League club.

I guess it’s not much different than American Prem fans, to an extent. You probably know someone that picked one of the big teams, like Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, or the Manchester squads. Not a lot of people showing up at the NBC fan fest with Burnley kits, though. That would be like one of these English lads showing up to Wembley game with a Jets jersey.
