BREAKING NEWS! – Key Eagles receiver retires! That’s what the clickbait push notification on the Newsbreak app would say:
After nine NFL seasons, Eagles WR DeVante Parker has decided to retire, he said Monday night.
As much as he looked forward to his time with the Eagles, Parker decided the time had come to spend more time with his family that includes his four children.

How will you remember the DeVante Parker era? Was it more impressive than the Frank Gore era? The Marquise Goodwin era? The Myles Jack era? Parker finishes his Philadelphia tenure with 0 catches for 0 yards playing 0 snaps in 0 games. He certainly had a chance to win the WR3 job this year and get himself 25-35 targets behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but had a change of heart, so good luck to the guy in the future.
On a more serious note, the candidate pool for WR3 now includes Parris Campbell, draft picks Ainias Smith and Jonny Wilson, Britain Covey, and longshots Shaquan Davis, Jacob Harris, Joseph Ngata, and Austin Watkins, all of whom signed reserve/future contracts with the Birds. It was one of the maybe two offensive positions they needed to address this offseason, in addition to right guard, with the assumption that Cam Jurgens slides back to center in the post-Jason Kelce era. And while Dallas Goedert will get his targets, and Saquon Barkley too, WR3 will be be on the field whenever the Eagles are in 11 personnel, which has been their most common deployment during the Nick Sirianni era. Whether or not that changes with Kellen Moore in the fold, we’ll find out soon.
