Howie Roseman Adds an Edge Rusher to 1-0 Eagles Squad

Oh baby we’re cooking with gas now:
Smith was a 4th round pick out of Kentucky back in 2015. He started with the Ravens, but had his best years with the Packers, going to two Pro Bowls on the strength of back-to-back seasons with 26 total sacks and 29 tackles for loss. He went to Minnesota and had another 10 sack, Pro Bowl season there, then Cleveland traded for him and later sent him to Detroit. Last year, between the Browns and Lions, he had nine sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 17 QB hits.
So the question is how much he has left in the tank. Does he make an impact, or is he the next Robert Quinn? Smith is 32 years old and missed the entirety of the 2021 season with back surgery and became a cap casualty, but was productive in 2024. Note that Azeez Ojulari was inactive on Thursday despite being healthy. Now you throw Smith into an EDGE group that includes Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, and Josh Uche, and you wonder if there’s a spot for Ojulari to get some snaps. We’ll find out in Kansas City in Week 2.
