If Cowboy Lover Dean Blandino Says it’s a Legal Play, Then it’s a Legal Play

There was some hubbub about the Eagles’ game-winning touchdown on Sunday afternoon.
Washington’s defense was caught flat footed and apparently thought that there was an illegal procedure or false start before the snap, but Dean Blandino came on the broadcast afterward to say it was clean:

“It did look funky and Washington pointed to Goedert. He’s in the backfield. He can go in motion. You just can’t have two guys in motion. Mailata, the left tackle, he was in a two-point stance. Never shifted. He was fine. It was a legal play.”
I was scanning some Commie social media on Monday morning and there was a whole lot of “you have to play until you hear a whistle.” They did not seem to be torn up about this.
It certainly did look strange, the sequence, but there were two guys back there in the secondary, not up on the line of scrimmage, and they both were put in the spin cycle by Goedert. They could have made a play, but their underwear is actually still laying on the ground at Lincoln Financial Field.
Bottom line is that Mailata can point while he’s in that stance. That doesn’t constitute a “shift,” so there’s only one shift taking place, and it’s Goedert, from behind the line of scrimmage.
