It’s Officially Dallas Week(s) Now that the Eagles Open Against the Cowboys, and I Hate it

WE’RE SO BACK! The NFL schedule is being released on Wednesday, but the league gave us a little crumb. Your Super Bowl Champion Eagles will face off against the Cowboys in the opener:
….and I hate it. It’s bullshit the NFL is making the Eagles open up against a division rival. The only good thing about it is Jerry Jones will have to watch the Eagles raise their second banner in person and be reminded he hasn’t sniffed the mountaintop in 30 years. But the NFL making them play the Cowboys on Banner Night is dumb. It should’ve been the Lions or Bears. Showcase two top teams in the NFC or the #1 pick in last year’s draft with a hot shot coach at the helm. The last time a Super Bowl champ had to play an in-division rival in the opener was 2012, when the Giants faced off against… you guessed it, the Cowboys. It’s like Jerruh is doing everything he can to push the agenda that the Cowboys are still America’s team. Wielding his power to grift off of our night just for some face time is a ridiculously embarrassing move for “America’s Team.” The league owes us a cupcake, especially after the bullshit with the Tush Push, but it’s funnier now that you know Jerruh couldn’t even let his ego get out of the way long enough to understand his team is going to be there to watch their hated rival raise their second banner in six seasons.
Don’t tell your WIP Uncle, but Dallas week hasn’t had much juice in the last couple of seasons. The last six games against the Cowboys Cooper Rush has started as many as Dak Prescott. Here’s what the last QB matchups have looked like:
- Kenny Pickett vs. Cooper Rush
- Jalen Hurts vs. Rush
- Hurts vs. Dak Prescott
- Hurts vs. Dak
- Gardner Minshew vs. Dak
At least Dak can see how close they really are to the Super Bowl Champion Eagles:
