“It’s Sad, But It’s Funny” Says Brian Baldinger in Monday Eagles Breakdown

Maybe Brian Baldinger has had enough of the Birds.

Each week, the former NFL offensive lineman goes through weekend film and shares his insights with us on Twitter, and while he usually does 4-6 clips per game, today he could only muster two Eagles videos. Perhaps he’s just burned out on this team, or he found more productive things to occupy his time, like bringing in the patio furniture for the winter or turning off the outdoor hose bibs. Maybe he was busy folding laundry or doing something meaningful with his Sunday afternoon.

“opening play of the game, they blow an assignment”

The irony is that this was the best drive they had when Carson Wentz was in the game. I did notice he audibled out of the first two plays (kill kill), so maybe that had something to do with these guys not being on the same page. Or maybe they just stink.

As far as the screen play, we shared that screw up this morning, though it looks worse with the all-22/coach film. The back angle view makes the collision look so goofy and comical, and Baldy is accurate when he says “it’s sad, but it’s funny.” Long ago we reached a point with this team where we weren’t sure whether to laugh or cry.

“he’s not fazed at all”

Yeah, Hurts didn’t look out of place.

People were all over the place talking about “prevent defense” on that touchdown drive, but the fact of the matter is that on that 4th and 18 play, Green Bay still rushed four guys, and Hurts stepped up, slid to his right, and waited for his receiver to find a hole in the zone before tossing a pretty pass while moving. It’s not like they were rushing three and dropping eight for the entirety of that series.

Admittedly, the bar isn’t very high right now, but after watching these excruciating Wentz games, week after week, anything Hurts does looks good in comparison.
