Jaelan Phillips was interviewed after the Lions win and doubled down on his statement that joining the Eagles was the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him:

Dolphins fans were not happy to hear that. So much that one called him a douchebag and he responded on Twitter saying people are taking things out of context for clickbait (the original Tweeter deleted their tweet) –

If anyone would take the time to actually listen to interviews instead of making assumptions based on clickbait, they would realize that I’ve been nothing but humble and grateful for this opportunity to play for an incredible Eagles organization. I have never once said a single negative word about the Miami organization. I am grateful for my 5 years in Miami, but I am also saying that this is an exciting moment and opportunity in my life, and career. These things are not mutually exclusive. Thank you. Go Birds

I don’t deal a lot with Dolphins fans, but are they always delusional? How do they take themselves seriously? They don’t actually think their organization can hold a candle to the Philadelphia Eagles, right? Every player in the NFL who cares about winning would choose to play for the Eagles over the Dolphins. Phillips is just saying the quiet part out loud. He got a golden ticket and got out of that dumpster fire. Phillips went from a 4-7 and another offseason in Cancun to 8-2 juggernaut that’s #1 in the NFC. The guy is only 26 years old, it’s literally the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him. When I was 26 my greatest accomplishment was getting a job at Comcast. I went from some shitty sales job (Dolphins) where I was smiling and dialing with no idea how I was going to pay my rent to the big cable provider in the sky (Eagles). Moving up like the Jeffersons. There is no greater feeling than getting out of something soul-sucking to greener pastures. And since he’s gotten to Philly he’s completely revitalized his career already tacking on 11 tackles, 13 QB pressures, and one sack.

Now listen, do I understand Dolphins fans gripes somewhat? Absolutely. If roles were reversed and a guy we drafted did pan out and went to another team and started saying things like he has there’d be some sour grapes in Philly. He’s kind of rubbing Dolphins fans’ noses in it every single chance he gets:

Take the Kelly Green glasses off for me and listen to these quotes. “Best environment he’s ever been a part of!” “Greatest thing that’s ever happened in his life.”

He even went out and immediately got some Eagles merch for his cats before the ink was dry on the deal:

This is like breaking up with your girlfriend and hard launching a new girl on Instagram a week later. This would be 15 yards in the today’s NFL for taunting. I understand where he’s coming from, but I can also understand some of the bitterness Dolphins fans might have. But he owes them nothing. If you’re angry be angry at Stephen Ross, Chris Grier, Mike McDaniel and your favorite football team not winning a playoff game in 30 years. Jaelan Phillips will be over here stacking numbers and flaunting his new girl at Jean-Georges on top of the Comcast tower.
