Sick start for Jaelan Phillips after the Birds sent Miami a third-round draft pick for his services:

He was noticeable early in run defense, with a nice shedding of a block and a tackle right near the line of scrimmage. The big one obviously was the 4th and 1 at the end of the game when Moro Ojomo yelled “inside zone this way,” and Phillips beat his man to help blow up that play in the backfield before recovering the fumble. He really popped off the screen in a good way.

And there was no adjustment period whatsoever, because he played for Vic Fangio in Miami and knows the system and was able to come right in and get to work. He didn’t require ramping up in the snap department. He actually led the EDGE group with 53 snaps, which amounted to 78%. Jalyx Hunt, who was also excellent, played 43 snaps and Nolan Smith 19 as he continues to get back to full form coming off the injury. Brandon Graham got 10 snaps and it was good to see him out on the field as well.

The Eagles are 7-2. Jaelan Phillips was awesome baby! <Dick Vitale voice>
