Jake Elliott Didn’t Miss a Kick in the Super Bowl

Underrated Super Bowl story? How about Jake Elliott making every single kick after the struggles he endured this season:
Final box stats: 4/4 on field goals, hitting from 48, 29, 48, and 50. Then 4/4 on extra points, and that doesn’t even include the kicks he had to retake because of the uber-rare penalties on Rick Lovato. Even the kicks that didn’t count went through the uprights.
Elliott was not in any high-leverage, game-changing situation because the Eagles blew the Chiefs out of the water. But hitting that first one from 48-yards to go up 10-0 was really important, and kept the Eagles momentum intact. He tagged on another one midway through the third quarter to cap off that clock-killing, demoralizing drive. The steadiness contributed to the midnight green pile on.
It was great to see considering how funky he was at times in the regular season. If you go through the four postseason games, he finished 10 for 11 on field goals, only missing from 54 yards in the Commanders game. Otherwise he was 9-9 from inside of 50 and 11 for 11 on extra points in the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. He cleaned up the extra point mess after the Rams game.
Another thing that falls by the wayside a bit is that when the Eagles started their winning streak, the offense was stuck against the Browns. Elliott hit from 49 and 44 yards and those six points were key in a four-point win. From there, the rest is history.
