Lamar Jackson Reportedly COVID-19 Positive, Status of Ravens/Steelers Game is ????

Thursday brought us perhaps the worst Thanksgiving Day slate ever, a pair of games between four losing teams as a result of the Steelers/Ravens matchup having to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 issues in the Ravens’ camp.

That game is now set for Sunday, but if it happens, Lamar Jackson won’t be playing because he reportedly tested positive:

It means Robert Griffin III would start.

Here’s the latest from Adam Schefter:

Jackson is among the four latest Ravens players and one staff member to test positive on Thursday, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Ravens now have had at least a dozen players test positive for the coronavirus this week.

This latest round of positive tests could threaten Sunday’s game between the Ravens and the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers, which already was postponed from Thursday night. Ravens coach John Harbaugh told players that they would not be allowed back to the team facility until Monday at the earliest in the interest of safety, a source said.

Is this game going to be forfeited? The players don’t earn their money if that’s the case, so I doubt that’s the route they’re interested in going, but they might not have a choice.

Also consider this:

#Ravens QB Trace McSorley went on the Reserve/COVID-19 list last week. Now Lamar Jackson has tested positive, per @RapSheet.

That leaves Robert Griffin III and practice-squad rookie Tyler Huntley as the healthy QBs, with a showdown with the #Steelers now scheduled for Sunday.

They are totally depleted.

It’s an interesting situation. The NFL is in a position where they’ll probably be criticized no matter what the final decision ends up being. In the case of the Steelers, they’re 10-0 and being strung along here because of something that isn’t their fault.
