Lane posted this just before 4 p.m. –

Johnson was a late absence from Sunday’s game due to personal reasons.

In the statement, he says, in part –

“I deeply wanted to gut it out for one more year; to take the field with my brothers for one last season. But after a lot of reflection, I’ve realized that my personal and family priorities in my life have changed. Right now, it is critical that I focus on my mental health.”

…

“Right now, what’s important to me is continuing to focus on my mental health and spending more time with my kids and family. But Philadelphia will always be home, and I will forever be an Eagle.”

Lane didn’t disclose what happened recently, and he may never disclose that, but it’s best to pause and not jump to any conclusions. Za’Darius Smith walked away in a similar fashion last year and we didn’t know the full story until a few weeks ago.

Whatever the case, Lane Johnson is an Eagles legend and 2x Super Bowl winner.
