Welp:
The #Seahawks cut former #Eagles first-round DE Marcus Smith, who has been out of practice for a couple days while dealing with a personal issue.

The Seahawks have cut DE Marcus Smith, who entered the league as a first round pick with the Eagles in 2014.

Seahawks people are calling it a “surprise” move:
Surprise roster move for the Seahawks: they’ve cut DE Marcus Smith, who was projected to be a part of their pass-rush rotation this season. Also waived CB Elijah Battle. Signed DE Erik Walden (whose deal was reported earlier) and RB Justin Stockton.

The Seahawks' decision to terminate their contract with DE Marcus Smith is surprising news (though I'm sure we'll eventually get an update there). Smith was a veteran who could help with depth on the D-line and would likely have seen starting reps with DE Dion Jordan injured.

Unfortunately he’ll go down as one of the biggest busts in Philly sports history, a first round reach by Chip Kelly back in 2014.
Smith played 37 games for the Eagles, finishing with 4 sacks and 12 tackles. He was the American Athletic Conference defensive player of the year at Louisville back in 2013.
