Makes sense:

As a refresher, Nagy rejoined the Chiefs after the Bears fired him in January of 2022. He returned as Andy Reid’s senior assistant and quarterbacks coach, then became offensive coordinator the following year and held that role until this departure.

He didn’t call the plays in Kansas City, but did so for most of his Chicago tenure outside of two instances when he passed off the responsibility to Bill Lazor.

Those Bears teams didn’t have a lot of firepower. They had Mitch Trubisky and Allen Robinson, David Montgomery and Darnell Mooney. Nagy got a year of rookie season Justin Fields but only went back to the playoffs one more time after the Double Doink loss, which was a Wild Card exit to Drew Brees and his last Saints team.

If you’re a Giants fan, you’re banking on Nagy benefiting from a clean reset and a few more years with Big Red under his belt. He’s got a franchise QB in Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, and some foundational pieces in place. It’s not an exciting hire, but you can do worse than two Andy Reid disciples teaming up to turn that sinking ship around.
