Nick Foles Says There’s Dysfunction in Philly, Points to the Eagles’ Culture as the Problem

Pretty much everything is going wrong for the Eagles in 2026, and Nick Foles says that the team’s litany of problems boils down to the culture changing for the worse:

“There’s dysfunction in Philly… You can feel it. You can see it. I love Philly. I love the fans, I love Philly… and the thing that bothers me is all the — everything I just said about what’s going on there is — it was at home. It was in Linc, it was Monday Night Football, it was the Dallas Cowboys, who are not a good team right now. And it was little things that got me. It wasn’t necessarily the execution that got me. It was the culture things. Cause culture — we’ve had many guests on — the number one thing isn’t scheme. It’s not a fancy coordinator. It’s not fancy capris or shoes or whatever you do. It’s culture. And in Philadelphia, for the better part of the last couple decades, has had a really great culture. Something is changing right now. I don’t know what it is. And — well, I’ll tell you what it is. When they got rid of Jeff Stoutland, that really pissed me off. That really pissed me off. And I knew something bad was gonna happen cause that guy is such a great coach and he means so much to that organization, and for him not to get the respect he deserves and everything go the way it did, that frustrates me first and foremost. So I’m gonna say that. When guys are getting hit and they’re knocked down, whether it’s the quarterback or the running back and it’s in the backfield, and the offensive linemen are near him… I’m like, ‘Is someone gonna pick up the running back?’ Like, he just got hit in the backfield because y’all didn’t block for him. Like, that O-line, that culture with Jeff, like, that would never fly. I got hit — anyone got hit — we were picked up right away by that offensive line… And for some reason, this offensive line forgets that the only reason this offense runs is through you… But like right now, with the culture and everything going on, when they weren’t picking up the guys… that got to me… And all that being said, this is the first time where I don’t know — I think there’s too many things going on. And I don’t necessarily see like the right way through fixing this, because I don’t know if the pieces are there right now to fix it.”
My first thought after listening to all this was, “Wow, Nick can really talk. I didn’t know Nick could talk this much. He always seemed pretty quiet during his playing days. But he just went full Michael Scott rambling for like four minutes there.” —
As far as the actual content of what Nick said, this all sounds right to me. You can see with your eyes that something’s off with this team, and it’s interesting to hear Nick compare it to how things were when he was playing. That old offensive line was special, for sure. That unit was extremely tight. They were all buddies. They recorded Christmas albums together. They loved Jeff Stoutland. And all that led to results. It helped that they had two Hall of Famers in their primes in Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson, of course, but still. I think it’s safe to say the camaraderie between those guys and the culture set by Stoutland had a tangible, positive effect.
This offensive line is not that. Some of these guys are new and playing for a new position coach. Through Week 7 of the 2026 season, the Eagles’ offensive line ranks 24th in pressure percentage allowed, surrendering a pressure rate of 41.7%. They’ve allowed 18 sacks, which is 22nd in the league. Pro Football Focus ranks them 22nd in the NFL, down four spots after their rough Monday night against Dallas. They’ve also committed 20 accepted penalties, which is the 3rd-most in the NFL.
Not that the offensive line is the only problem. The whole team looks checked out. Did you see Brian Baldinger’s film breakdown of the defensive line half-assing it on Monday night? It was brutal:
.@dallascowboys @Eagles can we at least get into our stance? please. Try to be ready at the snap…The fans were so sick of this effort that it wasn’t worth it to BOOOO. They just left. #BaldysBreakdowns https://t.co/eKM4ss0iB3

Maybe this sort of stuff is bound to happen during a lost season, when injuries to key pieces stack up and it doesn’t look like a playoff run is in the cards. It’s possible. Maybe this year is the exception. Maybe next year the Birds will be back to giving a shit.
But I don’t know. I feel like Nick may be right. This might be an organizational culture problem. And if it is, it may be time to clean house and get a fresh start.
