Somewhere, Ed Hochuli is posing in a mirror, perhaps nude, not unlike Colonel Stuart in Die Hard 2. It’s go time.

According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter, the NFL and referees union have reached an agreement. Both sides will work to have officials on the field this weekend.

This is just great, because this morning I stumbled across the Facebook profile of George Shinkan, the line judge from Sunday's Eagles-Cardinals game. Shinkan, an unabashed fan of every Chicago sports team except the Bears, once ripped Jay Cutler and, another time, boasted about being a Lingerie Football League official:

Yes, it will be great to have Hochuli's guns back. They will, in fact, keep players safe.

UPDATE: The NFL’s Albert Breer is reporting that a deal is close, but not done yet. SI’s Peter King says that referee representative Scott Green has told officials that a deal is not imminent. So we’ll stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Ed Hochuli may or may not have emailed this fan in awesome fashion.
