According to a report in the Star-Telegram discussing the possibility of Dallas hosting the NFL Draft in 2018, Philly is expected to host it next year:

The NFL Draft was held in Chicago the past two years after being a staple in New York City since 1965. Philadelphia is expected to host the draft in 2017, while a decision has yet to be made on 2018.

The 2018 draft would be perfect for the Cowboys and The Star, if they chose to have it there instead AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Philly has been mentioned as a possible location before, but this is the first we’ve heard any report say it was “expected.” Matt Lombardo mentions possible locations as the Kimmel Center, the Wells Fargo, and the Academy of the Arts (I think he means the Academy of Music).

It’s a little funny that the Eagles could host the draft in a year that they don’t own a first round pick, but only a little. It would be great to make-up for the sins of a few in the past – the McNabb draft – and really give whoever they picked next year a hearty, loud, boisterous welcome to Philly. We’ll just have to put that energy into booing Roger Goodell, I guess.
