George Kittle has always been a real one:

“Every team that comes in there, they hate us equally, and I just appreciate that. It’s incredibly loud. They flip you off. They moon you on your bus ride in. But they do that to anybody; it doesn’t matter if you’re the Niners, doesn’t matter if you’re the Jacksonville Jaguars. It doesn’t matter. They just give you that no matter what, and I appreciate that because you can tell how much they love their team.

No doubt about it. This is very similar to what Maxx Crosby said last month, when he complimented “grimy-ass” Philadelphia for creating a desirable football environment. It’s been a Sisyphean experience trying to explain and defend Philly sports fandom to people who aren’t from here, so when you have respected NFL veterans like Crosby and Kittle who get it, and talk about it publicly, it really resonates. There’s definitely a lot of mutual respect.

The thing with Kittle is he had similarly-positive things to say before the 2023 NFC title game. That was when he put on his meteorologist hat and said:

“To go into Philly, which is a fantastic atmosphere… It’s going to be wonderful, I know how much the fans love the opposing team. It’s going to be cold and violent and it’s going to be a blast.”

He followed that up in 2024 by revealing a “fuck Dallas” t-shirt underneath his jersey after scoring three touchdowns against the ‘Boys, which solidified his standing among the Philadelphia faithful.

In another lifetime, Kittle would have been a perfect Eagle. He’s hitting his mid-30s and will probably spend his entire career in San Francisco, but you never know. Maybe Howie throws him a one-year deal near the end of his run.
