Great news right here:

FANDUEL PARTNERS WITH SEPTA TO RESTORE BROAD STREET LINE SERVICE FOR EAGLES HOME OPENER

FanDuel has stepped up to provide resources to help fully restore service on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line [B] for Thursday, September 4 so that Philadelphia Eagles fans can safely and efficiently get to-and-from Lincoln Financial Field for the home opener.

SEPTA will run regularly scheduled subway trains, plus Sports Express trips, before and after the game. Pre-game, Sports Express trips will run every 10 minutes to supplement Local service. Post-game, SEPTA will have 10 Express and six Local trains ready to get fans home from NRG Station. Post-game trips will operate over a period of approximately 70 minutes, and SEPTA urges fans to go to NRG station right after the game to ensure they can catch a train home.

The FanDuel sponsorship covers free rides home for fans. The free rides from NRG Station begin at halftime and continue through the end of service.

“We appreciate FanDuel and SEPTA for collaborating to help provide Eagles fans with convenient transportation to-and-from our home opener,” said Don Smolenski, President, Philadelphia Eagles. “Their generous support will assist fans in getting to Lincoln Financial Field so that we can all enjoy the Championship Moment together as we take on the division rival Dallas Cowboys.”

“We know excited Eagles fans are making their travel plans to Lincoln Financial Field for tomorrow as they get ready to watch the team’s home opener,” said Mike Raffensperger, President, Sports at FanDuel. “As an official team partner of the Eagles, we are proud to collaborate with SEPTA to make that planning easier by providing fans with free and reliable transportation after the game.”

“SEPTA is grateful to FanDuel for stepping up with this sponsorship to restore Sports Express service for the Eagles home opener,” said Scott A. Sauer, General Manager, SEPTA. “This is a challenging time for SEPTA and our customers, but this partnership will ensure that Eagles fans have safe, clean, and reliable service to-and-from the game – and with the added bonus of free rides home.”

SEPTA’s Broad Street Line travels from Center City Philadelphia to Lincoln Financial Field, providing fans with easy transfers from SEPTA’s buses, Regional Rail trains, the Market-Frankford Line [L], and PATCO.

From the department of “more than one thing can be true” –

1) Obviously very good that full service will be restored for the game. You can’t have Eagles vs. Cowboys to kick off the season with SEPTA operating on a shoestring budget. It would have been the shit show to end all shit shows.

2) It should never have come down to this in the first place, needing a sportsbook to step in and save the day. It’s embarrassing for the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and all of the useless politicians who are currently acting like big babies out in Harrisburg.
