Sprite Pokes Fun at ESPN and Media Ridiculousness in New Jalen Hurts Commercial

A new Jalen Hurts endorsement just dropped with Sprite and the creators weren’t scared to poke fun at the media narratives surrounding the Eagles quarterback:
Now doesn’t that make you want a delicious, cold Sprite? Don’t you just want to “Obey Your Thirst” while watching Get Up and First Take pump the Cowboys’ tires while giving Hurts zero love even though he just won the Super Bowl MVP? We’re a week into training camp and I feel like I can’t turn on ESPN or Good Morning Football without either them talking about something Cowboys related.
Easily the best part of the commercial was the pretty privilege line delivered by Thirsten A. Sip, which of course came from Domonique Foxworth on ESPN. One of the most boneheaded things ever said on there and that’s saying something. Keep in mind this was after Hurts was questioned all season about his abilities and went 25/32 290 yards, and three total touchdowns against the at the time 10-3 Steelers:
Sorry, that Jalen Hurts is hot. That’s why his face is all over billboards around the country and he’s Jordan Brand and now Sprite’s leading man. The best companies in the world don’t hire ugly people to endorse their products. Dr. Squatch just sold for $1.5 billion off the backs of selling Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. That’s what happens when you’re ridiculously good looking and you win the Super Bowl. You start getting into “Face of the League” status and your mug gets slapped on everything. Even Peyton Manning transformed from Sloth from the Goonies to a leading man when that DirectTV money started pouring in. Remember what Tom Brady looked like the first time he won a Super Bowl? Now he has a genetically modified jaw:
Jalen Hurts is hot right now. So hot he’s even writing in his own commercials and perfecting his comedy chops, via Cydney Lee at AdWeek:
Like with all of his brand partnerships, which also include Jordan Brand and Hulu, Hurts was deeply involved with the creative process, said Joe D’Amelio, senior vice president and head of football marketing at Klutch Sports Group, where Hurts is managed.
A.P. Chaney, senior creative director at Sprite, added that Hurts wrote parts of the script himself and stayed longer on set to perfect his scenes.
“He is a perfectionist in the best way,” she said. “He definitely knows advertising, knows what he likes, and knows what he wants.”
Should’ve gotten this guy a last minute cameo in Happy Gilmore 2. Guy does it all. Super Bowl Champ, comedy writer, and Domonique Foxworth’s wife favorite football player:
What can’t this guy do?
