Terry McLaurin Situation Will Determine if Adam Peters is a Real GM or Merely Capable of Giving One-Year Deals to 34-Year-Olds

Terry McLaurin is a holdout:
McLaurin turns 30 in September and is an unrestricted free agent following this season. He’s in the final year of a three-year, $68 million contract and wants an extension.
Check that – he deserves an extension. The guy is coming off five 1,000-yard seasons in a row and caught 13 touchdown passes for a team that went all the way to the NFC Championship Game before being walloped by the Philadelphia Eagles. Final score 55 to 23. The guy is a Pro Bowler and second-most important player on the offensive side of the ball, maybe the second-most important player on the entire team.
They’ll get a deal done, presumably, but the takeaway here is that Adam Peters has to be a real GM now. Washington fans slurped this guy all season long and acted like he was the greatest GM ever. Why? Because he drafted the Heisman winner with the second overall pick? Because he handed out short-term deals to a bunch of guys in their mid-thirties? You and I could have done that! You and I could have stumbled into the first franchise QB since the 1990s and lured Bobby Wagner and Austin Ekeler to Warshington. You and I could have hired Dan Quinn and traded a 5th round pick for Deebo Samuel. Give me a fuckin break!
Wake me up when Adam Peters becomes this guy:

Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
