It’s the end of an era:

Schefter in a follow up: “Before the trade can get finalized next week, the Eagles restructured Bryce Huff’s contract this week. He was set to make about $17 million fully guaranteed this season from Philadelphia, but the Eagles now will take on only $9.05 million in salary, leaving the 49ers responsible for the remaining $7.95 million due to Huff this season.”

Good on Howie to move off that contract. Fixing his own mistake, sure, but Huff was given $34 million guaranteed and still had two more years remaining on the three-year, $51 million deal he received in 2024. Huff was banged up a bit this past season, and missed some playing time, but ultimately finished with just 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, 13 tackles, three TFL, and four quarterback hits. That’s in 12 games, six in which he started, a total of 285 regular season snaps amounting to 27.2%. He did not register a statistic in the postseason and was inactive for the Super Bowl. Now the Eagles move forward with Nolan Smith, Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche, and Azeez Ojulari in the EDGE department, and we’ll see how some of the EDGE/linebacker hybrid types pan out when training camp gets underway in the summer. Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and now Huff have all moved on.
