51 out of 53 ain’t bad. Just missed Shelton Gibson and Jaylen Watkins.
Notable players that made the roster include both Donnel Pumphrey and Corey Clement. I’m not surprised the Eagles are keeping both guys. The Eagles see Pumphrey as a project, and they moved up to get him in the draft. Clement would have seen a ton of interest on waivers tomorrow.
Gibson had a poor start to camp, but made strides later on. Little surprised about the move, but it appears the team has trust in most of their draft picks. Only pick that was cut was Nathan Gerry, who could be on the practice squad come tomorrow.
It’s interesting to see Billy Brown get cut. He could be a practice squad candidate if a team doesn’t get him.
Surprised to hear about Billy Brown being cut. Big, fast and gifted pass catcher. Willing blocker. Still a project, but has real upside.

The Eagles also signed Chance Warmack to a one-year extension until 2018. He didn’t have the best camp, and some thought guys like Aaron Neary and Dallas Thomas played better than Warmack. But Warmack’s offensive line coach is Jeff Stoutland, who coached him at Alabama. That may be a reason why he got an extension.
They also signed cornerback Dexter McDougle to a one-year extension until 2018. He was acquired last week from the Jets in exchange for safety Terrence Brooks.
Eliot Shorr-Parks heard that there was legit discussions in whether or not to get rid of Donnie Longball. But he thinks Johnston could make the practice squad.
The debate between Johnston and Donnie Jones was real. Practice squad is possible for Johnston. #Eagles

Rosters are never really set in stone until a couple days later. Last year, Paul Turner made the initial roster before the Eagles picked up Bryce Treggs on the waiver wire. So take this initial roster very lightly. Waiver wire moves will be announced around noon tomorrow, and teams can begin forming their practice squad at 1 pm.
In non-Eagles news, Washington running back Matt Jones was cut. He started last season for the Redskins, but was quickly dropped in favor of Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson. The Redskins also drafted Samaje Perine in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft. He could be an interesting name come tomorrow.
Former Eagles Cody Parkey (Browns), Josh Huff (Buccaneers), and Kenjon Barner (Chargers) were also cut.
