From Tom Ignudo at Eyewitness News:*

The Philadelphia Eagles “enthusiastically accepted” an invitation to visit the White House following their Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs, a White House official said Monday. An Eagles spokesperson confirmed the invitation and said the team is working with the White House on scheduling a date and logistics.

Yeah look, if they can keep the politics out of it and stay focused on the topic at hand, it will be good. Celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles for their achievement on the football field and get the photo op on the White House steps. We were denied that in 2018 because of political fracturing and a difference of opinion within the Eagles locker room. Malcolm Jenkins was on the team at the time and the Colin Kaepernick kneeling controversy was a big one. Maybe the locker room makeup is different this time around and/or they’re not concerned about fan and media opinion on the visit.

In theory, this has always been an apolitical event. In practice, it usually is, but you never know with Trump in the White House, speaking off the cuff. It’s impossible to know where he’s gonna go when he’s in front of a microphone and typically being verbose. But the point of these visits is to honor teams that win it all. If they keep it cordial then there will be no issues, and the bickering can be contained to social media.

EDIT – according to Karoline Leavitt, the Eagles’ appearance will be on Monday, April 28th.
