The Eagles Are Wearing Black on Christmas

Bing Crosby might have been dreaming of a white Christmas, but apparently the Eagles are dreaming of a black one this year. The team announced this morning that it’s going with the black alternate jerseys on Monday night against the Raiders…as visions of home-field advantage throughout the playoffs dance in their heads.
See what I did there? No? I’ll stop.

The Week 16 matchup will mark the second time this season the team has gone with the black alternates. They also wore them in Week 9 during their 51-23 demolition of the Denver Broncos.
The Eagles have gone 5-3 since unveiling the all-black look. In 2014, the Eagles blew out the Giants in an early season Sunday Night Football game, but lost a critical late-season showdown with the Seahawks. The Eagles also split in 2015 when they again beat the Giants and lost to the Cardinals. For what it’s worth (probably not much), they’re 3-1 wearing them under Doug Pederson and they look like a good bet to make it 4-1 come Christmas night. The Eagles are currently a nine-point favorite over the Raiders.
