The guy responsible for this is Dave Dameshek, who asks the question every single year. It’s a running bit, like a gag or whatever you want to call it. There are stories about Dameshek going back almost 10 years now, though you probably aren’t familiar with the bit, because if the Eagles aren’t in the Super Bowl, you’re likely not paying much attention to media night. Who gives a shit what Sean McVay or Bill Belicheat have to say.
So yeah, it’s just a thing this guy does. He was involved with The Man Show back in the day and then did Adam Carolla’s show, now he does sports radio and podcasting.
