The tweet that brought this to my attention, with a photo from a Target in West Goshen:

I am shocked by this. I haven’t been to Target in a very long time, and I guess no one told me Target has sick-ass clothes now. Last time I went to one – had to be around 2017, believe I bought a Vizio TV there – the only clothes I saw on racks were lightweight t-shirts with miscellaneous logos on them: Mountain Dew, The Flash, Dunder Mifflin. They were that extra-soft kind of material that nipples blast right through and immediately shrinks in the dryer after one wash. The pants were all shades of khaki and looked like they had too much starch. The shoe area did not appear to have any knowable brand names. All the footwear was solid colors or had Spider-Man on it. Nothing was in shoeboxes. Shoes hung together on special shoe hangers the way flip-flops come.

That’s what I remember, anyway. I wasn’t there for clothes. I was there for a Vizio. I made my way past the pants, past the produce section, past the non-perishables like peanut butter and Ritz crackers, past the toy section, past the CD and DVD bins, and finally landed in the TV area. On the way I definitely didn’t see any of these sweet-ass Starter jackets. These are great.

And it makes sense that these feel new to Target; they are. A quick Google has taught me that in April, Target announced a new collaboration with some nostalgic ‘90s brands including Starter, Pokemon, Mead (maker of Trapper Keeper), Caboodles, and Lip Smacker. The stuff is available for online order, and it’s a nationwide thing, too – looks like other cities are doing the same surprised double-take I did:

Target’s also selling these limited Pokemon Starter jackets:

Good stuff from Target, here. May have to roll over to Target for one of these jackets. Maybe pop over to the TV area too. See what Vizio’s been working on.
