The Perennial Dallas Goedert Injury Absence Begins in Week 2 this Season

Not great:
Goedert led the Eagles’ receiving corps in Week 1 with seven catches on seven targets for 44 yards. The Birds opened in 12 personnel and had him out there for 52 snaps, while Grant Calcaterra played 37 and Kylen Granson had 17. Calcaterra wasn’t targeted in the passing game, while Granson caught one pass for one yard.
Dallas didn’t play in the 2023 road game in KC, but in the two Super Bowl games he caught 8 of 9 targets for 87 yards. There was also the 2021 home game against the Chiefs when he caught all five passes for 56 yards and a score. He’s been pretty reliable and steady against Spags’ defenses.
Of course, he misses time every year, so that should not come as a surprise. Last year, it was a hamstring and knee that limited him to 10 regular season games. He missed three in 2023 with the forearm fracture and five in 2022 due to the shoulder injury. His only full NFL season was back in 2018, when he played 16 games as a rookie.
The good thing is that Goedert is typically healthy and effective in the postseason, with career numbers of 52 receptions on 68 targets for 562 yards and four touchdowns. That’s over 12 career games.
