There we go again

That’s Kevin Clark, who used to be with The Ringer and left for ESPN two years ago. In the full video clip, he says that the “helper” category is defined as “guys who can open a championship window if they’ve got help, if they’ve got people around them, a great offensive line, infrastructure, coaching staff, offensive coordinator.” Even with context, it’s pretty dumb, because QBs like Patrick Mahomes and the four “elite” QBs on the tier list also need good offensive lines and good coaches and good play callers. You can send prime Joe Montana out there but if he has five bums on the line and the 2002 Eagles receiving corps, then he’s not winning anything.

Anyway, Jalen Hurts is the reigning Super Bowl MVP. Calling him a “helper” while Jayden Daniels is “elite” is comical. Daniels took a plucky team to the NFC title game and threw for nine more yards than Hurts on 20 more attempts. He threw a pick and took three sacks. Guy had a fun rookie year but is due for a regression. The Commies’ 2025-26 campaign will resemble the Soviet Union’s 1991 season.

What’s sad is that Hurts continues to be the topic of summer rage bait, both locally and nationally. The lowest of low-hanging fruit from the radio and TV outlets. Pretty sad, but that’s sports media these days.
