When is the NFL Going to Investigate Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers for Lying About Christian McCaffrey’s Injury?

After the 49ers beat the Jets on Monday Night Football, Jordan Mason, who replaced Christian McCaffrey, mentioned in an interview to Lisa Salters that he knew he’d be starting on Friday. Immediately gamblers and fantasy football players’ ears perked up because CMC wasn’t ruled out until hours before MNF:

This is bullshit from the 49ers. I don’t care about your fantasy team, but with the amount of money that is gambled on these games, which coincides with league partnerships, it’s bullshit if the 49ers are allowed to get away with this under the disguise of gamesmanship. They made CMC questionable on Saturday. Typically, questionable is a 50/50 shot. Fine. But according to Adam Schefter, there’s a chance CMC doesn’t play next week either. How did a player with a 50/50 shot to play now have a two week injury in 72 hours? Something stinks! Roger Goodell better put on his Kenesaw Mountain Landis pants and conduct a forensic investigation into what went down in San Fran. I want the 49ers and Kyle Shanahan’s feet held to the fire. Nothing less than vacating a first rounder will suffice as punishment.

Of course, Shanahan was a complete dick about it after the game. He said he never told Mason he was starting and that he should be ready for an increased workload:

Way to have your player’s back. I’m sure that’s exactly what was said on Friday. There’s no way Jordan Mason gave up locker room secrets. You can tell because of the way he came to the podium after the game of his life and looked like someone ripped him a new asshole in the locker room right before:

Isn’t this why teams employ PR people? To get in front of these questions. How doesn’t a PR person grab Mason and tell him these are the questions they’ll probably ask you? Tell them you found out CMC was out when everyone else found out. I mean it wasn’t a secret the guy was going to do the postgame interview. An undrafted free agent rushing for over 100 yards is like a morphine high for ESPN.

There’s definitely a reason why George Kittle did the postgame show with SVP after only having a pedestrian four receptions for 40 yards. The 49ers might never let Jordan Mason near a mic ever again.
