Will Parks Reportedly Cleared to Play Against Ravens

Some good news for the Birds ahead of Sunday’s difficult test against the Baltimore Ravens.

Defensive back Will Parks was reportedly cleared to make his Eagles debut:

Parks had been out of the lineup since pulling his hamstring in training camp, which was a big bummer. The 26 year old Philly native is a hybrid safety who was brought in to play Malcolm Jenkins’ role, and without him (and Avonte Maddox) the Eagles have had to rely on Craig James and rookie K’Von Wallace to play snaps in recent games, joining Cre’Von LeBlanc in the “we need you on the field right now” department.

In a world where everybody on the defense is perfectly healthy, the Eagles would look something like this in a dime package:

• Darius Slay – outside corner
• Maddox – outside corner
• Nickell Robey-Coleman – slot corner
• Rodney McLeod – free safety
• and then Jalen Mills (or LeBlanc) with Will Parks in their strong safety/hybrid roles, however Jim Schwartz assigns that

Parks will get down into the box and cover tight ends and do a lot of those same things Jenkins did last season. The Birds have him listed at 6’1″, 194 pounds, so he’s be the tallest safety on the roster and has a similar frame to Wallace and Marcus Epps.
