At Least Vegas is a Conservative and Vice-Free City Where Carter Hart Won’t Get in Trouble

Credit to Sean Barnard for the headline. Carter Hart to Vegas seems like it’s at the finish line:
The Hart/Vegas rumor popped up a few weeks ago. They’ve got Adin Hill as their starter and Akira Schmid as the backup, who played a minor role on recent Devils teams. They were in the market for a backup goaltender and it was always believed Hart would wind up somewhere in the Western Conference.
We mentioned that Knights fans created a petition for the team NOT to sign Hart, based on his role in the Hockey Canada scandal. Hart was acquitted with the rest of the group but had a consensual sexual encounter with the woman at the center of the case and is currently ineligible to play until December. Checking the petition a few weeks after it was created, it’s sitting around 2,000 signatures and the comments are largely a cesspool, as expected.
What’s funny is the thought of Hart to Vegas. Sin City. What could go wrong! It’s not like there are any temptations there. Certainly there’s low tolerance threshold for each individual’s respective vice, be it women, alcohol, or gambling. Carter’s agent should have pitched him on some boring market like Winnipeg or Utah. Calgary would have been a good fit, if they needed a goaltender. Maybe Columbus or Carolina.
On the other hand, maybe Hart is a reformed man and comes out and goes on a heater and wins the Vezina. You never know!
What’s more important is that the Flyers are moving on without him. We have Sammy Ersson and Dan “Vladdy” Vladar, who is seeing everything right now. We’re rebuilding this thing, brick by brick. We’re Flyered up.
