There was a moment early in Thursday night’s Flyers game when Rodrigo Abols was knocked into the Buffalo net, colliding with former Flyer Alex Lyon. The ESPN mics got some great audio from the scrum:

Transcribed:

Ref: “Alex! Alex! He didn’t do anything!”

Lyon: “I didn’t know!”

Ref: “Okay!”

Lyon: “How am I supposed to know?”

Ref: “I don’t know!”

Lyon: “Okay, then, (inaudible)

Ref: “Hey you good?” (talking to Abols)

Lyon: “How the fuck am I supposed to know?”

There are two refs in the shot but it’s the first one talking to Lyon. He’s standing behind the net and gets into the scrum first.

It’s funny because oftentimes you think these guys are really going after each other or calling Evgeni Malkin a nerd or whatever, but this is the most innocuous scrum of all time. “How the fuck am I supposed to know!” Throw in the accents and it’s great.
