What do you do after kicking cancer’s ass? Sign an extension. Just moments before GM Chuck Fletcher met with the media, the team announced they’d signed winger Oskar Lindblom to a three-year extension worth $3m per season:
DONE DEAL! ✍️@oskarlindblom is staying in Philly! https://t.co/92scJ6ZWx5

This is excellent news on multiple fronts for a myriad of reasons. Following Lindblom’s December diagnosis of a rare bone cancer Ewing sarcoma, Lindblom and the Flyers community buckled in for the fight of the young winger’s life.
He’s been nothing short of a godsend for a team that’s somehow overcome his loss on-ice. He’s been an inspiration for the squad and now the organization has committed to him for the next three years.
From a hockey standpoint, assuming health and everything positive, Lindblom was in the midst of a breakout season. We could look back at this deal as one of the best values in the NHL.
Update: Oskar Lindblom’s comments on the extension per the team:
[the_ad id=”103880″]I am very excited to be a part of the Flyers for the next three seasons. The support that the organization, the fans, and the entire NHL has given me has been quite overwhelming. I can’t wait to get back skating with the boys and being the professional hockey player I know I can be. I want to thank the Flyers for giving me this opportunity and I look forward to the day I’m back and contributing to the team’s success.
