probably not at this point

Of course the Flyers absolutely crushed the Blackhawks two nights after losing a critical game to the Blue Jackets:

At Moneypuck, they now have a 12.7% chance to make the playoffs, though if the regular season ended today, they would go into the lottery just ahead of the Red Wings and Islanders with a 0% chance of landing the #1 overall pick. That’s because teams can only move up a maximum of 10 spots total. I ran the draft simulator 25 times and it basically just flipped back and forth between the Rangers and Canucks with the top pick, which is going to be Gavin McKenna barring some unforeseen circumstances.

The Flyers are five points behind the Islanders and Blue Jackets with 11 games left to play. They do have a game in hand on Columbus and two games in hand on New York. There’s a tricky back-to-back with Detroit and Dallas this weekend (away/home) while Columbus still has to play Carolina twice, Boston twice, and Buffalo. The Islanders also play Carolina twice and they play Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Montreal, and the Flyers.

You never know. Stranger things have happened. We all remember how they got into the playoffs the last time they went to the Stanley Cup Finals, but it’s not looking great.
