Flyers Won’t Raise Prices for Non-Premium Season Ticket Holders

The Philadelphia Flyers are making a concerted effort to reconnect with fans.
The organization knows that things haven’t been great lately, so they’ve organized focus groups with season ticket holders. They’re running a fan survey for the remainder of the season. They’ve made positive gestures where possible, like during the recent Kings game, where they waived parking fees, gave away free concessions (hot dogs, etc), and allowed upper bowl fans to relocate closer to the ice.
Monday, we got news that non-premium season ticket holders will not be facing a price increase, which was announced to those fans via email from Dave Scott:
This is actually the third consecutive season without a price increase, and keep in mind, we’re talking non-premium vs. premium here. Fans with regular season tickets get no increase, but clubs and suites is a different category.
Either way, the team is making a respectable effort here. Dave Scott went up to the podium not long ago and talked about how angry everybody is, and how they’re sick of losing. Part of you says “yeah, no shit,” but it’s good to see the face of the franchise in the post-Ed Snider era go up in front of the media and say that as part of his opening statement. The rest of that press conference can be parsed in various ways, but you want that bluntness and honesty from Scott, which was appreciated.
And hey, you never know, maybe these guys come back from the All-Star break and go on a friggin’ heater. They’re riding a winning streak, yeah? Two games with Detroit up next, and this ain’t the 2002 Red Wings. The schedule gets a little iffy after that, but there are a ton of home games, so we’re gonna learn soon whether these guys battle it out to the end or just fold.
