Jeff_carter_footSurely you remember last spring?

I do, but don't call me Shirley. Yesterday, Howard Eskin Tweeted that Jeff Carter's injury may be rather serious:

Updating flyers jeff carter injury. MCL Sprain. Out probably 10-14 days.

Paul Holmgren, as per the usual, quickly denied the report: [via Tim Panaccio]

Holmgren denies Eskin report that Carter out up tp 2 wks; Flyers players not optimistic on his return this series; horrible break for Cartsy

Eskin fired back:

I see Flyers GM Paul Holmgren at it again. Says not true my report that J Carter has MCL Sprain. Out 10-14 days. Its OK Homer to tell truth

Judging by the cloak of secrecy that surrounds playoff injuries, I'm more inclined to believe Eskin here.

So what did Carts do last night, now that he's on the shelf for Game 5? He headed to Mad River, where Darren Daulton was making an appearance for 97.5. These playoff injuries really suit those spring happy hours.
