If the Flyers Organ-Eye-Zation Really Cares About Scott Laughton, They’ll Let Him Score Tonight

Scott Laughton has played eight games for the Toronto Maple Leafs since the trade that brought back Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional 2027 first-round draft pick. Laughts has 0 points so far, is a -5, and looks to be bouncing around from the 3rd line to the 4th line, from center to the wing. There’s been grumbling from Leafs fans, who think they got fleeced. Now here comes former Leaf, Flyer, and Phantom Jay Rosehill to tell everybody to relax:

“It’s not the start that Laughts has wanted at all… we came in here with him wanting to fill that 3C role, things have changed and he’s not even really in that role at the moment, so… it’s not a good start for him… he’s just overthinking it because he cares too much. He cares a lot. I don’t know if you can care too much, but you can care so much that maybe you’re doing things a little bit differently and trying to force the issues, trying too hard, just overthinking it, trying to get to place you normally wouldn’t be in instead of letting it happen..”

This is all a waste of breath anyway because we know the Leafs are gonna choke in the playoffs. They’ll find a way to lose in the first or second round for the 9th-straight season. They’re the Philadelphia 76ers of the NHL. Argue about Scott Laughton all you want, but until Auston Matthews and the big money guys actually show up, the only thing the Leafs are winning in April is jack and shit, and jack left town.

That being established, we’ve got the perfect win/win situation for Tuesday night in Ontario. Laughts needs a goal. The Flyers need to give up goals in order to continue the tank and get a high draft pick. Would anybody have any issue with Laughts squeaking one by Sam Ersson? “Whoops! That one found the five hole!” Then we do a wink wink, nudge nudge kind of thing and everyone goes home happy. THIS IS THE WAY!
