Elliotte Friedman dropped a Jamie Drysdale update on Monday night:

The hit took place in the second period on Sunday and caused a ruckus in the aftermath. Drysdale immediately grabbed his left shoulder and then went down the tunnel after leaving the ice. They’ll call it an “upper body injury” but everybody and their mother saw where the contact was. The hit was clean but it was one of those cases where he was low and had his head down while kind of reaching for the puck.

The problem is that Drysdale injured this same shoulder in late 2022.

Keenan Slusher at NBC Sports wrote at the time:

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Jamie Drysdale has a torn labrum in his left shoulder, possibly sidelining him for the rest of the season.

Drysdale injured the shoulder during the Ducks’ loss at Vegas, and he will have surgery soon, the team announced. He is expected to be out for four to six months.

On Snow the Goalie, Bundy was talking about how hard shoulder injuries are to come back from in hockey. Essentially you feel weak even when you’re cleared and deemed healthy enough to play. In this case, you’ve got a young player with a lot of upside playing for an overachieving, yet still rebuilding team. So you have to be really careful with this one and make sure you get it right and don’t rush him back, considering the injury history and the positive arc this franchise is currently on.
