Is this what he’s doing now? First Take stuff? Is P.K. Subban the NHL Acho?
The reason people are giving Cutter Gauthier a ton of shit is because the kid flaked on the Flyers and wouldn’t communicate with them. He wouldn’t talk to Danny Briere, Keith Jones, John LeClair, or Patrick Sharp. He spoke of his excitement to play here, and then changed his mind and ghosted the organ-I-zation.
We all get what Subban is saying when he mentions “exercising his right to go where he wants to play.” Eric Lindros didn’t want to play for the Nordiques, but that was communicated well in advance and Quebec made a business decision to take him anyway and flip him for a treasure trove of assets in return. Just because “both teams won” the trade, as Subban mentions, doesn’t mean this is something we should be lauding or encouraging, because then what’s the point of the draft anyway? Just make everybody a free agent and let them pick where they want to play. I’m sure that would do wonders for parity and the product.
