Porter Martone is Headed to Michigan State

Let’s get it back to the Flyers with some Porter Martone news:
There was some buzz about Martone and Penn State, but the Nitters ended up landing Gavin McKenna, so he’ll go to East Lansing to join Flyers second round draft pick Shane Vansaghi. Karsen Dorwart, who played five games for the Flyers this year, was also a Spartan.
This is perfectly fine for Martone’s pathway. You play against older players in the college game. More experienced opponents in a more structured environment, as opposed to competing against fellow draft talent at the junior hockey level. You also get the opportunity to pocket NIL money by going down this road, and MSU is a pretty good team coming off two Big 10 titles.
At the end of the college season, he can then join the Flyers or Phantoms. We’ll see how it goes with Martone, but in the meantime we’ll be Flyered Up with Matty Michkov and Trevor Zegras.
