Weekend reports suggested that Torey Krug was holding up the Flyers/Blues deal because he was not willing to waive his no-trade clause. He’s well within his right to do that, but remains an asshole because we’re trying to dump Kevin Hayes and Travis Sanheim and move on with Danny Briere’s rebuild. We need Krug to capitulate and #DoTheDeal.

A minor development on that front:

The thought was that the Flyers get a third team involved to satisfy Krug’s desire, or just flip him after the fact. That’s still possible, though we’ve heard nothing but radio silence on this front for the better part of 24 hours now.

For what it’s worth, Krug is 32 and has four years remaining at $6.5 million. According to Cap Friendly, in 2025, that full no-trade clause shifts to a thing where Krug instead submits a 15-team no trade list.

Keep in mind, the Flyers are probably going to retain salary for multiple players they move, as a common way to get off these undesirable contracts. Kevin Hayes is earning ~$7 million per year and Chuck Fletcher cooked for us one final turd burger when he signed Sanheim to 8 years and $50 million right before this past miserable season began.
