Tyson Foerster to Team Canada, John Tortorella Back to New York?

Two hockey nuggets on a Friday morning:

Hopefully they put Torts out in front of reporters in whatever role this may be, so we can get some more great clips of him battling with Larry Brooks. Absolute theater whenever those two would start going at it. Torts was generally full of piss and vinegar during his time with the Rangers. Does he rejoin the organ-eye-zation? We’ll see!

Foerster to Team Canada is really cool. Still only 23 years old, now going to Worlds with two teammates and some quality NHL players. Not sure if you’d call Foerster’s 2024-2025 a “breakout” season, but he eclipsed last year in pretty much every category – goals, assists, points, etc. He finished strong, too, particularly after Torts was canned, so maybe there’s some foreshadowing of what’s to come next season for a guy who’s been a bit of a slow starter in his two full NHL seasons.

All these other fans in other cities will bitch and moan and say he shouldn’t be on the squad, and maybe he doesn’t deserve it just yet, but who gives a rat’s ass what these people think anyway? This is a good experience for Foerster and beneficial to the Flyers as well. This is a young roster that needs high-level reps, even in practice, and that’s what we’re getting here. The tournament is being played in Sweden and Denmark between May 9th and 25th.
