Assessing the Saquon Barkley Prop Market for Thursday’s Opener
By Joe Tansey

The least surprising thing about the Eagles’ Week 1 betting odds is that Saquon Barkley’s rushing yard prop is super high.
Barkley is listed at Over/Under 94.5 rushing yards at ESPN Bet for Thursday’s season opener against the Cowboys.
We’re talking about the running back that had eleven 100-yard performances in the regular season and three more in the postseason, so of course the over is in play no matter how high the prop sits.
Saquon’s overall history against the Cowboys isn’t great, though. He only has three 100-yard games against them since breaking into the league with the Giants in 2018. One of those three was a 167-yard performance in Week 17 last season. He also had a 14-carry, 66-yard game in Dallas in November.
Barkley averaged 67.8 rushing yards per game against the Cowboys in 12 meetings. He’s still averaged 4.93 yards per carry, so it’s not like he’s been horrible, but he needs to outpace those averages to get anywhere close to his rushing yard prop in the 2025 season opener.

Here’s the counter-argument to Barkley’s stats against Dallas:
He had at least 95 rushing yards in six of eight regular-season games at Lincoln Financial Field in 2024. He had at least 95 yards on the ground in 12 of his first 16 regular-season games as an Eagle.
Saquon’s rushing attempts prop sits at Over/Under 19.5. He had 20 carries in 10 regular-season games last season. The Eagles are probably going to be up big on the Cowboys, so I’d think Barkley gets close to hitting the over.
The over on the single rushing props are much easier to stomach than the -185 touchdown prop for Barkley. He’s +360 to score twice and +1500 to score three times.
I have no problem with betting Barkley at anything under -200 to score because there’s a good chance he gets at least one on Thursday.
However, there is a better prop to approach. The Eagles to have over 1.5 rushing touchdowns sits at -130 at ESPN Bet. Maybe that’s a Tush Push and a Barkley score, and boom, you cash at lower odds than both Barkley and Jalen Hurts to score a touchdown of their own. It should be a banner night for Pennsylvania sports betting as we get the NFL regular season started.
